Day 28
At Soliantu, Sean said that there really was no love tribe and wondered how a love tribe could even exist in this game. It was Vecepia’s birthday and while bringing some wood to the fire, Paschal said at one point to her “Why are you working on your birthday?” and the tribe threw a small party for her. Sean said he thought that her birthday was subdued by the dire conditions and that he tried to make her feel better as she wasn’t with her husband.
Paschal said that his energy was running low, and that he didn’t have much fight left. Sean talked about how they didn’t have many food options. Tammy said that people were trying to catch wildlife or seafood, but as time went on, the hopes of them catching fish were low. Kathy saw some fish in the water and was determined to catch some. Tammy said that she just wanted the reward to be food. She, Sean, and Neleh fantasized about Oreos, Snickers, and other instances of confectionery. Kathy said that she didn’t think it was healthy for their mental stability and that it was a distraction. Paschal described the Marquesas as the worst place on Earth he had ever been.
When Vecepia and Sean went to get Tree Mail, Sean sang Happy Birthday to Vecepia, which brought on tears of joy. She said no one wanted to be away from home on their birthday, and she tried not to think of Leander, her fiancé, so the song was special and saddening as well. She thanked Sean and said she wanted to see Leander really bad. The Tree Mail said that the winner of the Reward Challenge would receive several luxuries, and that the challenge would be conducted underwater. Sean said he didn’t feel strong in water, and Kathy tried to help him.
At the challenge, Vecepia was eliminated first, followed by Sean and Neleh, making the final round a showdown between Tammy, Kathy, Paschal, and Robert. Paschal surprisingly won the challenge by a long shot, winning a night on a cruise ship with food, a shower, and clean clothes. Paschal was given the option to bring a fellow tribemate with him – he chose Neleh. Afterwards, Sean thought Paschal should have chosen Vecepia as it was her birthday.
Paschal and Neleh had the opportunity to freshen up and to have a sumptuous dinner while on board the cruise ship. However, unlike the past few rewards, they did not bring back any food for the rest of the tribe.
Meanwhile, back at camp, Kathy was feeling envious of Neleh and Paschal. Later, Paschal and Neleh returned. Neleh accidentally annoyed Kathy, Sean, and Tammy by telling the tribe of the cruise trip, before irritating Sean even further by offering them a mint from her mouth. While Vecepia politely declined the mint, everybody else (excluding Paschal) was openly annoyed with her offering them a chewed mint.
Day 30
The next day, Robert said that the immunity win brought his spirits up, but he was bummed to see that it was probably Tammy who would be going home next. Kathy said she thought Tammy had a plan for tonight, that would bring the five-way alliance down. Paschal, Kathy, and Neleh discussed their fears of Vecepia and Sean voting with Tammy and Robert. Neleh said that Vecepia had been extremely volatile and could possibly join Tammy and Robert.
Vecepia and Sean had a conversation and Sean told Vecepia it was important for them to vote Neleh off, since she was playing the sweet, innocent girl and had the most potential of winning. Sean said that they could join forces with Tammy and Robert, but then they risked being tattled on by the latter duo, thus risking their position in the game.
At Tribal Council, Jeff asked the contestants what they were tired of. Neleh was tired of being covered in dirt, Kathy was tired of the beach, and Paschal complained about the same food and terrible living conditions. He also said that the reward was amazing. Kathy said that she was envious of Neleh and Paschal, but Paschal deserved it. Robert chose to keep immunity to himself. Although Sean and Vecepia discussed siding with Robert and Tammy and voting against Neleh, they eventually stuck with their five-person alliance and voted Tammy out in a 5-2 vote.
