Thy Name Is Duplicity
Day 22 – The day started with Sean Kenniff and the remaining ex-Pagongs expressing their disbelief about Gretchen Cordy’s blindside ouster at the last Tribal Council. On the other hand, the Tagi Alliance did not have regrets about getting rid of Gretchen, since they saw her as a legitimate threat. While fishing, Jenna Lewis invited Kelly Wiglesworth and Susan Hawk to an all-female alliance to get rid of the seemingly lazy males, though the two were non-committal, since they felt secure with their pact with Richard Hatch and Rudy Boesch.
Hunger pains struck hard on Colleen Haskell and Kelly, while Rudy and Sue squabbled over food rations. But not letting his tribe down, Richard returned with a net full of fish. However, Greg Buis felt threatened by him.
Meanwhile, Jenna and Colleen noticed that Greg started to act different, seeing him as more devious, trying to be more strategic.
Day 23 – Upon receiving Tree Mail, most of the tribe contemplated to throw the next Reward Challenge and let Jenna win so she could at least see a glimpse of her daughters.
“The reward is going to be something from home and, um, Jenna’s thinking it’s-it’s our pictures that we got to bring, and, like, she really, really… She misses her daughters terribly. ”
–Kelly Wiglesworth
Later, Jeff Probst made a surprise visit to Rattana camp by bringing a crate holding a television and a VCR, where Jeff revealed sneak peeks of their videos from home. Sadly, Jeff announced that Jenna’s video of her two daughters did not make it on time, causing Jenna to break down. Jeff consoled Jenna by announcing that the second part of the challenge win is that the winner will have a chance to send his/her own video to their loved ones back home.
At the challenge proper, Greg’s mark was never beaten by anyone, thus making him the winner of the challenge and giving him the right to watch his video of his sister, Julie. Meanwhile, still fuming about not having her tape, Jenna directed her anger by hitting target after target (since the challenge props were left at camp for entertainment purposes) as she beats herself up over the incident. Unwittingly, her hits eventually beat Greg’s challenge-winning mark.
At Tribal Council, Jeff reminded the castaways that everyone voted out from now on would become a member of the jury. The seven-person jury would decide which of the Final Two tribe members should win the million dollars. Jeff asked both Sue and Kelly if there was an alliance. They both dodged the question and said that they simply voted out people they didn’t like. Gervase, Colleen, and Greg cast their votes for Jenna, but the rest of the tribe had a different target in mind: Greg. By a 6-3 vote, Greg got the boot. He pretended to sob as he brought his torch to Jeff, cracking up the tribe for one final time (with Rudy thinking he was actually crying for a moment). Greg was the eighth person voted out of Survivor: Borneo and the first member of the jury.
