Tour Winner flashes smile for Our grey Sunny Coast
Strike two – from Sunshine Coast Daily! Thanks God for Everything, I have been at Coloundra RSL and a man approached me, “Are you in a paper today and I humbly said Thanks Dude! Yep
THE Sunshine Coast has been missing the warm shiny stuff from which it takes its name – but that hasn’t worried Adrian Jandongan.
The cheery 21-year-old has had a ball since he arrived from the Philippines a week ago on an all-inclusive seven-week study tour of the Sunshine Coast.
Mr Jandongan won the World’s Best Study Adventure in a contest run by Sunshine Coast Education in conjunction with Sunshine Coast Council, Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd, and Queensland Rail Travel, to promote the region to overseas students.
The Coast’s natural environment, relaxed pace and outdoor lifestyle has won over Mr Jandongan, even though the weather has not been the best for experiencing it all.
“The Sunshine Coast is a very beautiful place, a wonderful place. I have met such a lot of nice people and all of the things I have seen on the Sunshine Coast are very nice,” he said.
“A lot of people early in the morning waking up and exercising. For me, the Sunshine Coast is wonderful.”
The qualified nurse and practising graphic artist and photographer said the Coast was very different to the Philippines city of Iloilo where he lives in a house in the suburbs.
Mr Jandongan will visit nursing education facilities on the Sunshine Coast.
He has already visited the SEA English Academy and Underwater World.
Australia Zoo, diving, jet skiing, horse riding and an art class await on the itinerary but he is already sold.
“If I have the opportunity or I have lots of money some day I would like to come back here to study. I want to experience more. I want to migrate,” he said.
